Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 6, 2025
The short version
Shh-YouTube is 100% private. We don't collect any data about you — not your browsing, not your preferences, not anything. Everything stays on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Literally nothing. Here's what we don't do:
- Collect personal information
- Track your browsing history
- Gather analytics or usage data
- Create or access cookies
- Send data to external servers
- Use third-party services
What's stored on your device
The extension saves just two simple preferences — whether to show or hide recommendations in different areas of YouTube:
These are stored using Chrome's built-in storage — they never leave your browser. If you use Chrome Sync, these tiny settings may sync across your devices through your Google account (that's a Chrome feature, not ours).
Permissions explained
Here's why the extension asks for certain permissions — and what it actually does with them:
The extension only runs on youtube.com. It adds CSS to hide visual elements — it doesn't read your watch history, account info, or anything else.
Network activity
Zero. This extension makes no network requests whatsoever. No API calls, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no uploads, no downloads. Everything happens locally in your browser.
Third parties
There aren't any. This extension doesn't integrate with, share data with, or communicate with any external services.
Children's privacy
Since we don't collect any information from anyone, this naturally includes children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. But since we don't collect data, major changes are pretty unlikely.

Bottom line: No data in. No data out. Ever.
